On Thursday, May 14, 2026, a hybrid event (held both in person and online) took place in the conference hall of SALAS Group SA under the theme “Humanitarian Aid 4.0: AIDTECH”, aiming to inform participants and present the project and its outcomes regarding the development of the innovative humanitarian aid donation management platform designed and completed by SALAS Group SA and Ionian University.
The central focus of the event was the AIDTECH project (Aid Distribution & Technology Enhancement for Charity & Humanity) — a Humanitarian Action and Aid Support System — and the three core principles accompanying it: Technology – Solidarity – Transparency, serving as a practical framework for modern, reliable, and effective humanitarian aid interventions in emergency situations.
During the event, participants — including local government officials, particularly Civil Protection executives from municipalities, company representatives, and specialized humanitarian NGOs — were introduced to the core functionality of AidTech as an integrated information system for managing humanitarian aid donations. The platform combines governance and logistics capabilities to enable rapid response and relief for affected populations. Particular emphasis was placed on the platform’s ability to quickly activate and distribute immediate and medium-term aid packages based on identified needs while taking vulnerability factors into account.
Integrated mechanisms for transparency, traceability and accountability — from donor to final beneficiary — were also presented, along with the expected benefits of the platform, such as real-time mission monitoring, optimization of resource utilization, reduction of food waste, improved coordination among stakeholders, and reduced administrative burden for public authorities.
The AIDTECH project is implemented within the framework of Greece 2.0 – National Recovery and Resilience Plan, SUB 1.1: Research Excellence Partnerships (Project Code: ΥΠ3ΤΑ-0560287), with partners including the ISD Lab – Department of Informatics, Ionian University, and SALAS International Group S.A.
